Four Winters

“All I owned was my camera, leopard coat, rifle, and a grenade in case I’m captured…the pillow was the rifle, the walls were the trees, and the sky was the roof,” recalls Faye Schulman, one of more than 25,000 Jewish partisans who fought back against the Nazis and their collaborators from deep within the forests of Eastern Europe, Ukraine, and Belarus during WWII. Against staggering odds, these young men and women escaped Nazi slaughter and transformed from ordinary teenagers into fierce resistance fighters. Four Winters shatters the myth of Jewish passivity during the Holocaust, presenting intimate, first-person stories from the last surviving partisans. The result is a gripping narrative of bravery, endurance, and defiant resilience.
