The Disappearance of Miss Scott is a documentary about jazz virtuoso and civil rights pioneer Hazel Scott, chronicling her rise as a Black musical prodigy and Hollywood star (the first with her own TV show) before her career was derailed by the McCarthy-era Red Scare for her activism, leading her to move to Paris until her eventual return and rediscovery.
